Tipping workflow comparison

An alternative to searching for a tipping QR code.

QR-code tipping removed the need for cash in many service environments. It can still require the customer to find a code, open a page, and determine who should receive the tip. Proximity-based discovery takes a different approach.

01

QR-code tipping

A QR flow can be inexpensive to deploy and works with a phone camera. Its quality depends on where the code is placed, whether it is still visible, how quickly the page loads, and whether the code identifies a worker, team, or general business account.

02

Username-based payments

A payment username can work well when the customer already knows the recipient. In a hotel or large service team, the customer may need to ask, search, and verify that the account belongs to the right person.

03

Proximity-based discovery

Gratuitease uses Bluetooth proximity to show eligible nearby workers. This avoids a primary dependency on printed codes or remembered usernames, while still requiring careful permission explanations and accurate worker eligibility.

04

Choose for the service moment

No single method is right for every organization. Evaluate the number of steps, recipient accuracy, accessibility, connectivity, fee transparency, worker experience, and the business rules required after payment.
